The EMC Centera is the world's first magnetic hard disk-based WORM (Write Once Read Many) data storage device.

Using traditional magnetic hard disks as a data storage medium, the EMC Centera provides fast, secure, on-line access to digital content such as scanned document and check images, electronic statements and other computer generated reports, e-mail message archives, medical images, Microsoft Office documents, and many other data types requiring long term storage with immediate access..

Based around a sophisticated set of software API functions that control the creation, storage, and retention management of data objects, the EMC Centera data storage systems offer secure, reliable storage of data objects that satisfy the regulatory compliance requirements of SEC 17a-4, Sarbanes-Oxley, and HIPAA to name a few.

With usable storage capacities from 5.4TB to over 73TB in a single 19” rack cabinet, EMC Centera data storage systems are designed to grow with today's exponentially increasing requirements to store fixed content data.  

For scalability beyond 73TB, multiple Centera cabinets can be configured as a single cluster, offering hundreds of Terabytes of storage capacity in a single Centera storage pool.
