EMC Centera Backup and Recovery Module (CBRM) was a backup and recovery application that provided a low-cost alternative to performing Centera-to-Centera replication, which required customers to purchase and implement two physical EMC Centera devices, and to have enough network bandwidth between sites to support data replication from the primary Centera to the secondary Centera.

Due to the low volume of CBRM users, and the fact that there were other solutions available from third parties, EMC made the decision to End-of-Life the CBRM product, and is recommending StorFirst Altus a data protection application purpose-built for EMC Centera, to backup and restore content to/from physical tape drives and tape libraries, without the requirement of utilizing the NDMP protocol and additional Enterprise backup products such EMC NetWorker, Symantec NetBackup, or IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).
